Course Description
This two-day course is aimed at anyone in the Broadcast Technology Industry needing to understand the full breadth of changing broadcast workflows. The course will:
- Improve your knowledge of the concepts, terms and processes used in Broadcast Technology;
- Enable you to understand the impact of file-based technology on end-to-end workflows;
- Allow you to understand how change in one part of the workflow can impact all others;
- Give you the confidence to discuss and analyze workflows effectively;
- Improve your marketing and sales abilities.
Upon successful completion of this course participants will:
- Understand the key components of broadcast technology workflows;
- Understand how the market is changing and how this impacts customer requirements;
- Be able to work with different approaches to understanding customer requirements;
- Understand integration & workflow support;
- Understand the life cycle of metadata;
- Be able to explain the main media standards and different processing requirements for different codecs;
- Understand broadly how a full HD and 3D workflow varies from an SD workflow;
- Understand different scheduling & planning processes;
- Recognize, appreciate and understand media asset management systems;
- Understand file based ingest systems;
- Understand acquisition tools;
- Understand different post production components;
- Comprehend new AV file formats and wrappers using defined profiles for planning and distribution;
- Understand and recognize the different hard and software components used to manage content and metadata;
- Appreciate emerging technologies such as cloud and virtualization and identify how these may impact future business.
Completion of this course course is ideal preparation for the examinations which lead to the award of the certified broadcast and media technology qualification either at practitioner or professional level.
This class presupposes a basic knowledge of the broadcast industry.
